In October, Cozamin was awarded the Ethics and Values Award in the “Multinational Companies” category by the CONCAMIN (Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico). The award recognizes companies who have developed a culture governed by ethics and values.


Capstone’s corporate exploration team was presented with a Safe Day Everyday Bronze Award from the Association for Mineral Exploration (“AME”) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada(“PDAC”) for achieving a year without lost time in 2018.


Capstone was named a Silver Award Winner at the annual Awards of Excellence in Corporate Reporting, presented by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). This award recognizes companies achieving a high average score across all four judging categories: Financial Reporting, Corporate Governance Disclosures, Electronic Disclosure and Sustainability Reporting.


Pinto Valley was presented with the "Super Hero" Award from the Phoenix Children's Hospital for their continued support at the annual Children's Fight for Life Casino Night, which raised more than $100,000 to benefit the Centre of Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children's Hospital in support of Leukemia Research.


Capstone was the recipient of the "Viola R. MacMillan Award" at the 2014 PDAC (Prospectors and Developers of Canada) Convention for demonstrating leadership and management in the successful development of the Minto and Cozamin copper mines and in its acquisition of Pinto Valley copper mine, as well as transforming it into an intermediate copper producer.


Capstone was awarded Mid Cap Deal of the Year 2013 by the Mining Journal Outstanding Achievement Awards (London, UK) for its Pinto Valley acquisition.


Capstone received the Canadian Deal Makers Award 2011 for the acquisition of Far West Mining Ltd. and Santo Domingo.



Capstone was included in the “TSX30” ™ Ranking for the top 30 performers on the Toronto Stock Exchange.


In September, Cozamin was recognized by the Secretary of Health, through the Mexican Institute of Social Health (IMSS) with the “Health Security” badge.

Each year between 2012 to 2022, Cozamin mine was recognized as a Distinctive ESR® Socially Responsible Company by the Mexican Centre for Philanthropy (CEMEFI). CEMEFI recognizes success in strategic corporate social responsibility and acknowledges efforts to assume voluntary and public commitment to implement socially responsible management and continuous improvement as part of culture and business strategy.

Cozamin mine was awarded the Clean Industry Certification by Mexico's Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente or PROFEPA). Cozamin has received this recognition each year between 2015 to 2020 for undertaking voluntary environmental audits that certifies full compliance with Mexican federal environmental laws.

In the past five years, Capstone’s strong corporate governance framework resulted in an ISS Governance Score of 1, indicating the highest level of governance quality and the lowest level of governance risk. We have a robust enterprise risk management oversight program from an engaged team at the Board and Senior Management level and throughout the organization.


President & CEO, Darren Pylot was inducted into the American Mining Hall of Fame by the Mining Foundation of the Southwest.

Pinto Valley was recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation by SAIMT (Southwest Area Incident Management Team) for our organized and skilled assistance to local authorities during the Arizona Woodbury Wildfires. The team's hard work and tremendous commitment to safety ensured there was no harm to our people or damage to our assets, and local surrounding areas.


Capstone ranked 27th on Corporate Knights Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders, for its sustainability performance in the medium-sized enterprises in Canada category. Capstone was also recognized on this list in 2016.

For the past four years, Cozamin has been acknowledged as an inclusive company by the Mexican Secretariat of Labour and Social Welfare. This recognition promotes respect for diversity and supports the equality and equity of vulnerable groups.

Every year between 2014 and 2018, Cozamin mine was recognized with the Family-Responsible Company Accolade for bringing benefits to its partners, suppliers, families of its workers and environment by the Secretariat of Labour and Social Welfare (Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social).


Pinto Valley Mine was recognized for their support efforts and appreciation for providing humanitarian assistance for both the Texas and Florida hurricane relief efforts through the Lions Clubs International Foundation. Capstone matched employees’ contributions for a total donation of over $7,000.

Cozamin mine received distinction in a “Mexico Without Child Labour” campaign, recognizing work places that design and implement employment practices that support the prevention and eradication of child labour.


Cozamin ranked #16 in the top 100 Great Places to Work in Mexico in the 500 – 5,000 employee category by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The ranking analyzes and assesses the views of employees and the corporate culture of each company in workplaces in more than 52 countries worldwide.

Following an audit of Cozamin’s training programs by the Technological University of Zacatecas, Cozamin was the first mine in Mexico to be endorsed by Mexico’s Federal Government as a Workers Competencies Evaluation Center. This accreditation is issued through the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Occupational Competencies and has only been awarded to a few universities and technological schools in Mexico.
